Where have you been? I started in NJ and got to visit with people in MD, VA, NC, SC GA, TN and now I am currently in Ohio enjoying some fresh snowfall! Incredibly thankful for good friends in community. Although we may be more spread out these days, our relationships are real, deep and I am very grateful for every encounter!
What food do you want? Is there something you miss when you are in Sweden? The food I tend to miss, is the food I miss every time I leave NJ: Italian pizzerias for pizza and hoagies, pork roll and cheese, and the numerous ethnic restaurants that surround my family!
Whose car are you driving? Good friends in NJ have graciously lent me their car for this entire road trip. An incredible gift!
What has your life looked like in Sweden this past year? I can describe my life in three categories. First there is the language and cultural learning. I am in school for about 15 hours a week and get to rub shoulders with immigrants from all over the world that have found themselves in the north for various reason. These relationships have led to an English conversation group and more tea times looking to build bridges for the gospel. The next part of my life is cultivating disciple-making communities where people can gather and take steps to discover more about living out a lifestyle as a disciple of Christ. It is exciting to watch as people take steps to engage the Holy Spirit, lives are being transformed! Lastly, my heart is to network with like-minded believers in the city that we would connect in a vision through our different models and methods, together we can have a greater impact in the city and beyond!
Do you have friends or support over there? The community is very welcoming to me. I am very thankful to have a great sending church and a great receiving church family. Friendships are slow as we just need more time to make memories, but I am thankful for what has started.
